Current Regional WeatherAbout OxfordWelcome to Oxford County! We are located in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, amid rolling hills and productive farmland. Our roots are in agriculture, and our strength is in business. We are one of the earliest settlements in Southern Ontario, due to our location straddling the main road from Toronto to Windsor. We were also a corridor for the Underground Railroad. A few of our more famous sons and daughters include Laura Secord, Aimee Semple McPherson, Rev. George McKay, "Klondike" Joe Boyle, and Thomas Cook. Oxford County is the Dairy Capital of Canada! It was here where Canada's commercial cheese industry began. To stimulate interest among foreign buyers, a group of Oxford's producers co-operated to manufacture a gigantic cheese in June, 1866. Weighing 7300 pounds and measuring 21 feet in circumference, it was exhibited at the New York State Fair and in London, England. Country villages, winding roads, lazy streams and picture-perfect farms - beauty graces our vibrant landscapes. Here you will find myriads of winding trails and an abundance of conservation areas and parkland. Just follow the bends in the roads to let Oxford County speak to you. Please visit www.tourismoxford.ca for more information about this beautiful area. ![]()
