Must Do list:GCNX40 – Waterfront Quest – by Coureurs de Bois. Definitely our favourite cache to date, not just locally, but overall. A challenging puzzle cache taking you to North Bay’s beautiful waterfront area. While there, make sure you take a ride on our Heritage Railroad, one of our wonderful carousels, or book passage on the Chief Commanda II. A fun puzzle cache that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, day or night. GCJCM9 – THE PUNISHER!!! – by Riono10-81. This is another wonderful local cache that explores the Canadore trail system. This multi lives up to it’s name and you will do some hiking to complete it. Plan a few hours to finish this one, a prize well worth the journey. GCGTR1 – North Bay’s Billy Goats Gruff – by HalVE1LV. This is a somewhat challenging micro cache that alluded me a couple of times before finding his hiding place. Stealth and smarts are required when seeking out this troll. GC9CAF – Calibration Point – by OLS1540. - Although not one of the area’s exciting tourist attractions, this point is worth seeking for the geological history lesson. GCNX1D – The Mud Portage – by Ferris Venturers. This is a 3 part multi cache. You can choose to do it the modern way, by car and try to figure which roads to take to get to the 2 other sites. Or if you really want a challenge, do the canoe route as traveled by the early Voyageurs and see what they would have endured. GCK6F9 – Tour de North Bay – White Jersey - by Rino10-81. Tour de North Bay Geocaches are designed for the cyclist/in-line skater in mind. North Bay’s Kate Pace Way and Kinsmen Trail are very unique and quite scenic. These caches will guide you through most of these pathways. They can be done on foot. White Jersey is the first of 4 ‘jersey themed’ caches along the paceway. I’ll list the others so you can look them up if interested: GCK6F9 – Stage 1 Rookie Classification (white jersey)GCK6FA - Stage 2 Mountain Classification (red polka dot jersey) - archived GCK6FB - Stage 3 Sprint Classification (green jersey) GCK6FC - Stage 4 General Classification (yellow jersey) GCJX28 – Duchesnay Falls….Remembered – by White Owl and Mrs. Owl. If you are into waterfalls and pretty nature spots, this one is a must. A short hike on a very good trail. Bring your camera. GCGQ53 – Temagami Fire Tower – by Murfster. If you are in the Temagami area, this is a must. This is an old forest fire tower used for spotting fires. It has been redone as a lookout. The coordinates to the second location on this multi are up the tower, so you will have to climb it. Don’t forget your camera. A wonderful view of the area from on top. GCHPV8 – NB City – by DRCRNP & TERLAN – A web cam cache located in the centre of North Bay at City Hall. You will have to phone someone to snap the picture for you. GCA4E4 – QUINTS – by HalVE1LV – a Virtual cache that takes you to the original home of the Dionne Quints, now the Dionne Museum. This cache is right next door to an area Travel Information Centre
