Favourite Niagara Caches

#1 - 1812 on the Niagara Parkway Tour: Part 1 is a constant favourite of locals and those visiting Niagara. This Geocache is an historic tour that starts in Canada's first capital city and visits many important locations, but we can't give away the ending. Fun and educational, they really can exist together.

#2 - 1812 on the Niagara Parkway Tour: Part 2 continues where Part 1 left off. Visit the south end of Niagara where a majority of the War was fought and learn about the decisive battles as well as some other interesting facts. Done in tandem with Part 1 makes for a day you will never forget.

#3 - Deer Bait is the original Ontario Geocache, and has set the standard for Niagara wilderness Geocaches. Placed in the centre of an Ontario Provincial Park, this Geocache will challenge you with a long walk on established trails. Come and see how Geocaching in Ontario got its start.

#4 - Niagara Falls Virtual is the perfect opportunity for the tourist to see Niagara Falls. Placed right in the centre of the action, this Geocache gives you a view of both falls and is a short walk from all of the main attractions of Niagara Falls.

#5 - Peace Tree is one of the best well-rounded placements we have. Located near a petting zoo, playground and picnic facility, this Geocache takes you around to see the wildlife and ends off at another significant display. A Geocache for the young and the old, and a chance to connect on several levels.

#6 - Battle of Queenston Heights has been the benchmark for the Multi-Cache since it was placed. Ideal for those that don't have enough time for the entire 1812 Parts 1&2, as this Geocache provides a lot of information in a shorter package. Come visit one of the most legendary sites of the entire War of 1812 and final resting place of Sir Issac Brock himself.

#7 - The Heavy Metal Cache has nothing to do with music. This Geocache brings us to a massive machine, a 100 ton rock crusher from decades ago. Words can't describe just how big this behemoth is, but the plaque tells the story quite well.

#8 - Lakeview Blues brings nearly every facet of Geocaching together in a tidy (no so) little package. Solve a pre-cache puzzle, see historical graveyard markers with the background provided on the cache page, solve an on-site puzzle, take a nice long hike, see some of the early sections of the Welland Canal, and wrapping up with a great search. Takes just over an hour, but you get everything in one cache.

#9 - Almost Coinnecting the Bridges is a great adventure that shows how nature reclaims its own. This is based upon the early 1900's train tracks that were a highlight of the Niagara Falls region. The tracks are now forested trails that hide their earlier use. A challenge to complete, whether you read the historical info included or not.

#10 - 20 are being compiled. Do you have a suggestion for a great Geocache in Niagara that a tourist would enjoy? We are looking for Geocaches that not only are interesting to find, but contain that little bit extra.... the history, or interesting view, or even the WOW that Niagara is known for. Send your suggestions for inclusion to the Regional Rep.
