Just a quick question. Filled out the form to become a member a few days ago.
How long does it take for the association to get back to you for you to know if you've been accepted or not?

HI Jim,
It would be a good idea to post your request on the OGA Forum and ask the same question. Groups of cachers arrange to got out often but do not make it an official time. If you post in the forum that you are interested people might let you know when they go out.
OGA does not organize outings but you could also contact the Golden Horseshoe Monthly Geocaching Club - res2100 organizes monthly outings in the golden horseshoe area... website is http://www.ghcaching.ca/
And one other group - Central Ontario Geocachers (COG) - http://www.centralontariogeocachers.com/forums/index.php . Their forum may have some information about going out with a group. You could also post there about looking for a group to cache with as well.

Hope that helps!

I'd like to learn about Geocaching by accompanying a group. Is there a group in north Toronto (Newmarket area) that I would allow me to follow along and ask a million questions? I'd be willing to travel if your group isn't in York Region.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

We are trying to start a regional geocaching group in our area. In the current newsletter you mention 5 regions in Ontario, but I can't seem to find them? I found this "placeholder for Regions Information" form so decided to start here.

We are in Mid-Western Ontario, which includes Grey and Bruce counties and the magnificent Bruce Peninsula. We're not sure exactly what the boundaries of "mid-west" include and we are in the process of trying to determine that. Various media, newspapers, radio etc. refer to this area as Midwestern Ontario, but we are having some difficulty defining the exact region?

There are many active caches and cachers in this area and we hope to enable a local group to organize outings, events, social gatherings etc. COG and SWOG are not too far away, but most of their events are quite some distance from here. So we are thinking of forming MWOG - Mid West Ontario Geocaching and are trying to determine if this is perhaps already a Region of the OGA?

We have developed a temporary website under the generic name of Discover Ontario Geocaching for now, but would likely chance the name to MWOG to follow the geographical regions such as COG, SWOG, NOG, etc.

Any and all input and advice regarding this would me much appreciated!

Thanks,
Ausiesrock
