Lib Mendonca

Lib Mendonca, Bluelamb03, was born in Portugal and arrived in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada as a toddler in 1959, where he’s lived ever since. He learned map and compass navigation while serving as a member of the Governor General’s Foot Guards, a Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. His infantry training also gave him the opportunity to take long hikes carrying heavy packs, often at night. He became a geocacher in July of 2003 while on vacation in Cape Cod Massachusetts. There the visit of a ‘techie’ friend who had heard of ‘geocaching’ coincided with a visit by a family member who had brought along a handheld GPSr from work to navigate through the Cape. With Bluelamb’s laptop the first cache was located, downloaded and logged!

Back in Ottawa Bluelamb03 became a co-founder of the Saturday Morning Caching Club, aka the geoMob, and regular Saturday caching outings became the norm. Bluelamb is also involved with the Canada’s Capital Cachers as part of the ad hoc committee that publishes events in the Ottawa area, notably the annual GAG (Go and Get’em) caching extravaganzas.

Bluelamb03 has found caches in Britain, Portugal, Canada and the United States. He hopes to add to that list considerably with time.
